Mutant (Marvel)

From Otherkin Wiki

Mutants are a fictional species created by Stan Lee. They are beings with genes that give them special abilities. Some mutants seem human, but others have a non-human appearance, possibly having wings, tails, and claws, as well as other traits.[1] Mutants have their own culture, including their own language called Krakoan.[2]

Mutants may identify as a member of the species or as a specific character. Some mutants see themselves as human, but this is not universal, as it is debated as to whether mutants have gone through speciation.[1][3]

The experiences and characteristics of mutants can vary widely. Mutants in fiction not only have different powers and abilities, but they also may come from different alternate realities where mutants have different attributes.[1]

History[edit | edit source]

The earliest known usage of the term 'mutantkin' dates back to November 6, 2015, on Tumblr. As the mutant population increased, various online communities were created, usually in the form of Discord servers, with some eventually becoming inactive.[Citation needed]
